What are the network (internet) requirements to attend UMISC online?
Like most things online, your conference experience will be optimized if you have a stable and high speed internet connection. If your wifi is spotty, you may want to use a hard-wired internet connection during the conference. We recommend that you close any other apps on your computer or mobile device that are using internet bandwidth during the conference.

What is my in-conference profile?
All registered attendees will have a profile page within the conference environment. We will load each profile with the basic information provided upon registration. We highly encourage attendees to log in to the conference app to personalize their profile page with photos, social media links, webpage links, etc.

There's so much going on! How do I manage my conference schedule?
We strongly encourage you to log in to the conference environment before the start of the event and use the scheduling tools in the app to customize your schedule. This will allow you to switch between sessions much more nimbly so that you can use valuable break time for things that really matter (coffee!)

How will I interact with speakers?
During talks, you will be able to ask questions to speakers by typing them right into the conference interface. You will also be able to see and "up-vote" other attendees' questions. Session moderators will ask the most up-voted questions at the end of each talk as time allows.
Outside of sessions, you will be able to send private messages to speakers (and other attendees) within the conference app. You can either chat by text or you can schedule one-on-one video chats with speakers. If there's a particularly hot topic that warrants group discussion, we encourage you to make a thread for it on the in-app discussion board and invite relevant speakers to participate.

How can I take notes while watching sessions?
Toggling between the web app and a word processing document for notes would be a pain. The conference app (web browser version) will allow you to take notes for each session right there within the interface. You can download all your notes at the end of the conference.
